Common Dogwood /Cornus sanguinea/
Rarely found in Latvia, typically growing in groups in sparse forests, marshy thickets, and along roadsides. A medium-sized (1-4 m) shrub from the honeysuckle family. Branches are upright, greenish-brown, turning red in late autumn and winter.
Abundant flowers. Fruit is a bluish-black berry. Blooms in late May and June. Thrives in urban environments, cold-resistant, making it a popular choice as an ornamental plant.
