Common Lilac /Syringa/

Common lilac belongs to the olive family, comprising 12 shrub species cultivated widely for their ornamental beauty and fragrant flowers. The blossoms come in various colors — lilac, violet, blue, white, pink, yellow, and even multicolored.

Common lilac is a deciduous shrub, reaching heights of 2.5-5 meters and widths ranging from 1.6 to 3 meters, depending on the variation. Oval or heart-shaped leaves measure approximately 5-12 cm in length, displaying dark green or slightly bluish-green hues.

Variations with filled blossoms are also possible.

Blooming occurs in May and early June. Planted in gardens and left in residential areas, common lilac flowers possess relaxing, antimalarial, and analgesic properties, but infusions should be used cautiously.
