It is a plant species in the carnation family. A perennial, small plant, 10-40 cm in height. It can be seen in various-sized groups in Latvia's dry pine forests, clearings, dry meadows, usually in places with fairly steep and low vegetation.

It blooms from June to October. Maiden pink is used in ornamental horticulture. It stands out with its rich, long-lasting flowering and undemanding nature; it is effective when planted in separate groups in dry soils, often used in rock gardens.
