Owlet Moths /Noctuidae/

How do they look?

Owlet moths are primarily medium-sized butterflies; their wingspan ranges from 30 to 50 mm. In the middle of their forewings, owlet moths have one round and one kidney-shaped spot. The color of their wings and spots depends on the species of owlet moth.

Where do they live?

Almost all owlet moths are active in the twilight and nighttime hours. During the day, they hide in grass or tree bark crevices. The caterpillars mostly live on the above-ground parts of plants, less frequently in the soil on roots. The larvae of some species inhabit tree trunks and stones, where they feed on lichens and algae.

What do they eat?

Butterflies feed on nectar, exuded, and acidic plant sap.
