White Dead-Nettle /Lamium album/
It is a perennial plant of the dead-nettle family. Commonly found in Latvia, it grows in gardens, along hedgerows, in shrubs, and along roadsides. The height of the white dead-nettle's stem is 30-70 centimeters. It blooms with white flowers from May to October.
Similar in appearance to nettles, the white dead-nettle lacks stinging hairs on its leaves and stems.
The white dead-nettle is a medicinal plant. During the flowering period, flowers and leaves are collected for medicinal purposes. Biologically active substances in the dead-nettle exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, astringent, bleeding-stopping, and tonic effects. It stimulates uterine contractions and lowers blood sugar levels.
