Wood Anemone /Anemone nemorosa/

It is a perennial plant of the buttercup family. It is widespread throughout Latvia, growing in forests, on the edges of bushes, and in ravine slopes. It is also used as a decorative plant in gardens.

It is a perennial and small plant (10-20 cm). Usually, one white flower blooms at the top of the stem. Wood anemone flowers in April and May, before the flowering of deciduous trees.

It is important to note that this plant is toxic, containing anemonol, which, when broken down, forms anemonin.
