Yellow Cow-Wheat /Melampyrum nemorosum/

A one-year-old, small to medium-sized (10-50 cm) plant of the figwort family. It is hemiparasitic, distinguished by a particularly expressive contrast between blue upper leaves and brightly yellow corolla leaves. It is highly decorative and often captivates the attention of painters and poets, although it quickly withers in bouquets.

The plant blooms from late May to August and is widespread throughout the territory of Latvia, often growing densely in meadows, dry forests, forest edges, shrubs, and road verges.
